Braces are typically used to restrict undesired or potentially harmful motion, and to allow desired motion. We carry braces designed for various types of injuries, including:
At Physiomobility we provide custom and off-shelf bracing services to the North York area. The assessment for your need is performed by a registered physiotherapist who not only measures your joint movements and assesses your need for the specific type of braces but will perform a general assessment to identify any other problem areas that may need attention.
The proper brace should improve function, decrease pain and be comfortable. To achieve the best brace fitting for our patients, we provide only a few trusted braces for orthopedic conditions. These brands provide quality and comfort backed by research that makes their braces not only better in functionality but lighter and more durable. The best quality bracing means cost-effectiveness over time as these providers also make adjustments and repairs when necessary.
Braces and compression stockings are typically considered a medical necessity. Your insurance provider may need detailed information about the brace or compression socks and you may need a doctor’s referral. At Physiomobility, when our patients are in doubt if the cost of their brace or compression stocking is covered by their insurance, we provide an estimate that can be submitted to the insurance company for approval. We complete an assessment, decide on the type of brace (off the shelf or custom made) or compression stocking, write up an estimate and send it to your insurance on your behalf. We then wait for the approval and your instructions to move ahead and order the brace or compression stockings.
Not everyone needs a custom knee brace. For many conditions such as osteoarthritis, ACL & PCL injuries, there are an off shelf, quality braces that can be modified to meet your needs. After all, you may need a brace for certain activities and there might be other solutions for your condition. At Physiomobility, we provide a free consultation with one of our trained physiotherapists to answer your questions. Book your consultation online or give us a call.
Most of the extended insurance providers cover the cost of custom knee bracing. Best is to verify this coverage with your provider. At Physiomobility we can communicate with your insurance provider and provide them with a detailed estimate.
Your insurance provider may require a referral from a specialist or your GP.

Every time you take a step, the muscles of the lower leg contract and relax, putting pressure on the veins of the lower leg, and assisting them in fighting against gravity to move your blood back up to the heart. Within the veins, there are one-way valves that are designed to prevent the return of blood to the leg. When this pumping system does not work properly, varicosities and swollen legs can start. For Varicose veins that are mild or moderate, a number of treatments including stretching and exercises in combination with compression stockings are beneficial:

Compression stockings can be prescribed by your physician or our chiropodist. To order the right stocking a measurement will be performed. The best time for measuring your legs is first thing in the morning, so book your appointment as close to your waking time as possible. For more severe conditions, a visit to a specialist and possibly surgery may be necessary.
