Relieve Arthritis and Pain Naturally with Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

In my practice, I am commonly asked the following questions about the effects of acupuncture on arthritis:

  • Is acupuncture any good for knee Arthritis?

The answer is yes. Acupuncture, among other benefits, is an effective treatment option for treating pain and inflammation related to knee pain. The pain releif associated with the acupuncture treatment, assists clients to participate in exercises to further improve their condition.

  • How long does it take for acupuncture to work for knee pain?

Depending on the severity, age, combination with other treatments, etc, the pain releif can be acheived as soon as the first session.

  • How many sessions of acupuncture are needed for arthritis?

Typically, a treatment program is between 6-10 sessions.

How Does TCM Help with Pain and arthritis?

TCM views all organ systems as interconnected, and illness or pain as a result of internal imbalances, such as deficiencies in Qi (energy) and blood flow. By restoring this balance, TCM supports the body’s ability to heal, reduces pain, and minimizes the need for medications with harsh side effects.

Acupuncture is A Key Component of Treatment for Arthritis
Research suggests acupuncture may help regulate immune function, reduce inflammation, and manage rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. Many patients experience relief within 3–12 weeks, and ongoing sessions can prevent the progression of arthritis or support faster recovery after joint replacement surgery. Response to treatment varies between individuals, so the number of sessions also varies, and for long-term conditions it is not uncommon to need one or two treatments a week for a few months.
