Active Release Technique Physiotherapy in Toronto

What is Active Release Therapy (ART)?

Active Release Therapy-Shops at Don MillsActive Release Therapy or ART is a patented treatment technique and practitioners who are licensed to perform ART invest a great deal of effort to excel in diagnosis and performance of the technique. The technique is applicable to the treatment of many acute and chronic conditions and involves positioning the area to shorten the tissue while applying a contact tension and lengthen the tissue. The most common application of ART is for treatment of overuse conditions, sports injuries and neck & back muscle pain.

Repetitive trauma, physical stress, and sports injuries can cause small muscle tear and cause your body to develop scar tissue and muscle tension which in turn reduces the freedom of movement in muscles, fascia, and joints. All these compresses nerves weaken muscles and cause muscle strains as well as tendinitis and ligament sprains.

Our chiropractors certified in ART in Toronto will examine the treatment area for any tightness, muscle shortness, movement restriction, and scar tissue development. Based on the findings, a series of ART techniques are then applied. Patients generally describe their experience as “amazing”.
