Ingrid Yu

Orthopaedic & Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Ingrid graduated from Queen’s University with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy, during which she was awarded the opportunity to attend the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s National Congress and participate in a Global Health Conference at Duke University.

Ingrid firmly believes that being able to move freely is crucial to leading a happy, healthy lifestyle. She is motivated by the desire to help her clients return to life’s meaningful activities by regaining function and mobility. Her treatments are built upon evidence-based practice and client-centered care, which consists of manual therapy, taping, cupping, acupuncture, and above all, patient education. She empowers her clients with knowledge regarding their condition, as well as self-management strategies tailored to the individual.

Ingrid strives to provide her clients with the best care by continually advancing her clinical skills. She completed the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program and is skilled in the application of neurofunctional acupuncture and electroacupuncture. She uses this effective technique to treat a wide-range of conditions, from acute injuries, post-operative rehab, to chronic pain conditions.

Ingrid has also taken numerous courses to address women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunctions. She is sensitive in creating a comfortable and safe environment to help men and women address intimate concerns that can significantly affect quality of life. Women are especially vulnerable to pelvic floor dysfunction due to anatomical differences and the stress and changes of pregnancy. Ingrid is passionate about improving health for women of all ages, treating conditions such as dyspareunia (painful intercourse), incontinence, prolapse, pregnancy-related hip/low back pain, and pelvic girdle pain.

Ingrid recognizes that each injury and pain condition can involve other areas that need to be addressed. She takes the time to become familiarized with each client’s unique life demands to provide strategies for self-management, prevent future re-injury, and improve overall health.

When Ingrid is not in the clinic, you can find her planning her next hiking adventure, enjoying a cup of coffee with a good read, or practicing mindfulness in a hot yoga class.
