What to expect from your first visit to Physiomobility?

Before your first visit
- Go to our patient forms section of website and download your intake forms
- Print the forms, fill them out, and make sure you bring them to your first scheduled visit
- Arrive 5-10 minutes before your session begins to complete our registration process
- Bring your forms, your doctor’s note and your insurance information.
- Wear comfortable clothing for examination and exercise
During your first visit:The first part of your examination involves an interview during which your therapist will review your medical history and current complaints. Be prepared to answer questions like: what type of symptoms you’ve been experiencing? how long you had this pain? How did it start? What aggravates or eases your symptoms? What activities you are not able to do or doing with difficulty. What therapies you had in the past and what was the result. And Finally, what your goals are?
During your assessment, the therapist will examine your range of motion, muscle strength, posture, how you walk and appropriate clinical tests. Although some tests are designed to reproduce the pain for the purpose of confirming a diagnosis, but clinical tests should not increase your pain significantly. If at any point during your examination, you feel a great deal of discomfort, make sure to communicate it with your therapist.
After the examination, your therapist will assess the findings of the assessment and will discuss a treatment plan to treat your condition and how this will assist you to reach your goals. Please do ask if you have any questions at all. Our experience shows that patients who understand their conditions and play an active role in setting treatment goals recover faster, achieve better outcomes and are more likely to maintain the results of their treatment.
If appropriate, we usually initiate your treatment on the same day of your initial evaluation. This may involve hands on treatment, education about activity modifications, a short exercise session with the Kinesiologist and possibly modalities such as Ultrasound, laser, Ice or heat, electrical stimulation or acupuncture.
After your visit:
Depending on the condition, your treatment plan may involve 2-3 visits per week to our clinic. To ensure that you maintain the gains of in clinic treatment session, you will be given a home exercise plan. Following through this program is likely to help you to recover much faster and reduces the number of visits to the clinic.
On your way out, you will check in with our receptionist. She will arrange your follow up visits with your therapist, coordinate your insurance billing and answer any questions you may have.
