Skilled hands on treatments to improve function
Osteopathy is a treatment philosophy that aims to restore function in the body, and is focused on the idea that disease arises from a poor working relationship between the body's anatomical structure and physiological function. Various types of stress, strain or trauma usually create this disruption, and the Osteopathic Practitioner works with the body to enhance this natural ability to self-heal.
The Osteopathic Practitioner assesses and treats from the perspective of the whole body, and seeks to restore the proper mobility of the component parts. Attaining balance among the body's systems (musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, neural, etc.) is the ultimate goal of an osteopathic treatment. Through this approach, osteopathy aids in the restoration of normal movement and function, thereby assisting the body in achieving its natural goal of well being.
Osteopathy applies the knowledge of the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the body, to all diseases, disorders and dysfunctions. Like physiotherapy, it uses hands on techniques to identify the causes of the problem and to restore order to all of the systems. Myofascial Release, Cranio-Sacral Release Therapy, Strain Counter Strain, and GOT (General Osteopathic Technique) are just some of the techniques used by our Osteopathic Practitioner.
Here are some examples of medically diagnosed conditions and problems that our Osteopathic Practitioner can help treat:
- Children's issues – delayed development, birth trauma
- Neck pain, back pain, Sciatica, headaches and migraines
- Systemic problems, neurological syndromes, digestive disorders, chronic infectious disease and circulatory problems
